Summary of Walk
Eleven participants joined guide Hareendra for a vibrant morning walk at Allalasandra Lake, an urban wetland in Bengaluru. Despite rain the night before, the group recorded 34 bird species, including Oriental Darter, all three cormorants, Spot-billed Duck, Grey Heron, Purple Heron, and the striking Painted Stork. The rain had also stirred activity in the lake, with several Keelback snakes seen swimming.
A highlight of the walk was the sighting of a distressed Oriental Darter—swift coordination between the WBCF and Ataavi teams led to a successful island rescue and release by Avain and Reptile Rehabilitation Centre team, making the walk not just memorable, but meaningful.
